Cash for Cars vs. Trade-In: Which Option Is Right for You?

When it’s time to part ways with your old car, you’re faced with a significant decision: should you go for cash for cars services, like cash for cars Melbourne, or opt for a trade-in at a dealership? Each option has its advantages and disadvantages, and the choice ultimately depends on your unique circumstances and priorities. In this blog, we’ll delve into the key factors to consider when deciding between cash for cars and a trade-in.

Cash for Cars: Quick Cash and Convenience

Cash for cars services offer a straightforward and hassle-free way to sell your old vehicle. Here’s why it might be the right choice for you:

Quick Cash: Need cash in hand swiftly? Cash for cars services typically provide a fast transaction process, allowing you to receive payment promptly.

No Strings Attached: When you sell your car for cash, you’re not tied to purchasing another vehicle. You have the freedom to use the cash however you please.

Convenience: The process is often simple and convenient. Many cash for cars providers, such as Cash for Cars Melbourne and Cash for Cars Canberra, offer online quotes, making it easy to get an estimate from the comfort of your home.

Trade-In at a Dealership: Potential Benefits

Trading in your old car at a dealership can also have its advantages. Here’s why it might be the right choice for you:

Convenience: Dealerships typically handle the paperwork and transfer of ownership, making the process relatively hassle-free.

Potential for Higher Value: In some cases, dealerships may offer a higher trade-in value, especially if your car is in good condition and you’re purchasing a new vehicle from them.

Offsetting the Cost of a New Car: A trade-in can be an effective way to reduce the price of your new car, as the trade-in value can be used as a down payment or to offset financing costs.

Consider Your Priorities

To make an informed decision, consider your priorities and circumstances:

  • If you value speed and convenience and need cash quickly, Cash for Cars Canberra might be the better choice.
  • If you’re looking to upgrade to a new vehicle and want to simplify the process, a trade-in at a dealership could be advantageous.

Whether you choose cash for cars or a trade-in at a dealership, the decision ultimately depends on your specific needs and preferences. Getting The Best Value For Your Old Car – A Complete Guide

In the ever-evolving automotive market, the idea of selling old cars or trading them has caught the attention of many enthusiasts and entrepreneurs. At The Car Buyers, we often come across customers curious about whether this endeavour is worth their time and investment. With the increasing popularity of services offering cash for cars in Melbourne, Canberra, and beyond, the potential for profit in this niche market is undeniable. But, like any investment, it comes with its own set of risks and rewards.

Understanding the Market Dynamics

The concept of selling old cars for cash is not new, but its popularity has surged in recent years, thanks to the increasing demand for vintage and used cars. This demand is driven by various factors, including the nostalgia for classic models, the uniqueness of owning a vintage car, and sometimes, the lower price point compared to new vehicles. Additionally, the rise of cash for cars services in cities like Melbourne and Canberra has simplified the process of buying and selling old cars, providing a seamless transaction experience for both buyers and sellers.

Role of Cash for Cars Services

Cash for cars services play a pivotal role in the car trading industry. These services offer an immediate payment option for old cars, making it easier for buyers to acquire vehicles without the hassle of traditional buying processes. For those looking to sell cars for cash, such services offer a quick and efficient way to dispose of their vehicles, often with the added benefit of free car removal, further reducing the overhead costs.

Profitability Factors

The profitability of buying old cars and selling them for a profit hinges on several key factors:

Buying Price:

Securing a car at the right price is crucial. Many car buying services in Melbourne and Canberra have been providing competitive offers, making the initial acquisition cost lower.

Restoration Costs:

Depending on the condition of the car, restoration can be a significant expense. It’s essential to assess the extent of repairs needed and whether the potential selling price can cover these costs and still yield a profit.

Market Demand:

The desirability of the car model plays a significant role in its resale value. Vintage cars or models with a cult following tend to fetch higher prices.

Selling Strategy:

How and where you sell the car can impact the final profit. You should look for a genuine car buyer so that you will get the best value for your car.

Risks and Rewards

Like any investment, buying or selling old cars carries its risks. However, with thorough research, a keen eye for value, and leveraging services like cash for cars in Canberra and Melbourne, the rewards can be substantial. While many people consider making top cash for cars in Melbourne through private sales, there’s a smarter and more advantageous option available: selling your car to a reputable car buying service.

Why Choose a Car Buying Service Over a Private Sale?

Speed and Convenience: Private sales can be time-consuming and stressful. You’ll need to create listings, meet with potential buyers, negotiate prices, and handle all the paperwork. In contrast, car buying services offer a quick and hassle-free process. They can often buy your car on the same day, saving you valuable time and effort.

No Advertising Costs: When you sell your car privately, you may need to spend money on advertising, such as listing fees, photography, and online ads. Car buying services, on the other hand, don’t charge any fees for listing your car. They evaluate your vehicle and make an offer without any upfront costs.

Avoiding Strangers: Dealing with unknown buyers can be uncomfortable and even risky. Meeting with strangers for test drives and negotiations can raise safety concerns. Car buying services eliminate these worries by providing a safe and secure transaction process.

Professional Appraisals: Car buying services have experienced appraisers who can accurately assess the value of your car. This ensures you receive a fair and competitive offer based on the current market conditions and the condition of your vehicle.

Immediate Payment: Private sales often involve waiting for potential buyers to secure financing or make payments. Car buying services typically offer immediate payment, allowing you to access your money quickly.

No Need for Repairs: Private buyers often expect used cars to be in perfect condition, leading to costly repairs and maintenance to attract buyers. Car buying services purchase vehicles in as-is condition, saving you money and time on repairs.

Scrapping a Car That’s Not in Your Name: What You Need to Know?

Is it possible to scrap a car that’s not in your name? The short answer is yes, but the process requires careful navigation of legal and administrative considerations. Whether you’ve inherited a vehicle, received authorisation from the owner, or find yourself in possession of a car with a different registered owner, scrapping it is indeed feasible. Here are some of the steps and factors that you should be aware of when scrapping a car that’s not in your name.

Navigating Ownership Authorisation

Scrapping a car that you don’t legally own requires proper authorisation from the registered owner. This authorisation can be in the form of a signed letter or document explicitly granting you permission to scrap the vehicle. This step is crucial to ensure that the scrapping process is legal and that you’re acting with the owner’s consent.

Documentation and Proof

While the car might not be registered in your name, having the vehicle’s registration documents and any bills of sale can help demonstrate your authorization to scrap the car. These documents act as tangible proof that the owner has given you permission to proceed with the scrapping process.

Understanding Scrap Yard Requirements

When approaching a scrap yard or recycling facility, make sure to inform them that you’re scrapping a car that’s not in your name. Different facilities might have specific requirements for such situations, and being transparent about the ownership status can help streamline the process.

Local Laws and Regulations

It’s important to note that laws and regulations regarding scrapping cars can vary widely depending on your jurisdiction. Research the legal requirements in your area to ensure that you’re complying with all necessary laws while scrapping a car that’s not in your name.

Transferring Ownership

If circumstances permit, consider transferring the ownership of the car into your name before scrapping it. While this might involve administrative steps and potentially some costs, it can simplify the scrapping process and reduce potential legal complexities.

Turning Adversity into Opportunity: Making Cash from Accident-Damaged Cars

When a car is involved in an accident, it’s easy to assume that it’s destined for the scrapyard. However, there is potential to make cash out of accident-damaged cars. Despite the visible damage, these vehicles may still have salvageable parts or hold value in the used car market. Let’s explore the possibilities of making cash from accident-damaged cars.

Salvageable Parts:

Accident-damaged cars often have salvageable parts that can be resold. Components such as engines, transmissions, doors, and electronics can be in good working condition despite the overall damage to the vehicle. These parts can be valuable to mechanics, repair shops, or individuals looking for affordable replacement parts. By carefully assessing the salvageable components, you can potentially make cash by selling them separately.

Scrap Metal Value:

Even if the car is beyond repair, the metal components can still hold value. The body of the vehicle, along with other metal parts, can be sold as scrap metal. Scrap metal prices fluctuate, but the value can still be significant, especially for larger and heavier vehicles. By selling the accident-damaged car for scrap, you can make cash based on the weight and type of metal.

Insurance Settlements:

If your accident-damaged car was covered by insurance, you may be eligible for an insurance settlement. Insurance companies often evaluate the extent of the damage and provide compensation based on the pre-accident value of the vehicle. While the settlement may not cover the full value, it can still provide a substantial amount of cash that you can use towards purchasing a new vehicle or other expenses.

Essential Documents Needed to Sell Your Junk Car for Cash in Melbourne

If you have a junk car taking up valuable space in your garage or driveway, selling it for cash can be a smart decision. However, before you proceed with the sale, it’s important to gather the necessary documents to ensure a smooth and legal transaction. In this blog, we will outline the essential documents needed to get top cash for cars in Melbourne and Canberra.

Vehicle Title:

The vehicle title, also known as the pink slip, is a crucial document when selling your junk car. It establishes your ownership and enables the buyer to transfer the car into their name. If you have misplaced or lost your title, you can obtain a duplicate from the relevant state agency.

Proof of Ownership:

In addition to the vehicle title, you may need to provide additional proof of ownership. This can include any supporting documents that demonstrate your legal right to sell the car, such as registration papers or insurance records. These documents act as further evidence that the vehicle belongs to you and can be legally transferred to the buyer.

Essential Documents

Identification:

Both the seller and buyer will need to provide valid identification documents. As the seller, you may be required to present your driver’s license, passport, or any government-issued identification that confirms your identity. The buyer will also need to provide their identification to complete the necessary paperwork.

Release of Liability:

A release of liability form is a document that relieves you, the seller, of any responsibility for the vehicle after the sale. It transfers the liability to the buyer, ensuring that any future accidents, tickets, or issues associated with the car are no longer your responsibility. This form can typically be downloaded from their official website.

Bill of Sale:

While not always mandatory, a bill of sale is a recommended document that serves as a legal record of the transaction. It outlines the details of the sale, including the buyer’s and seller’s information, the vehicle’s identification number, the purchase price, and the date of the transaction. Having a bill of sale provides an additional layer of protection and clarity for both parties involved.

Understanding How the Value of Cars is Determined

When it comes to selling your car, understanding how its value is determined is crucial. The value of a car is influenced by various factors that impact its market worth. By familiarizing yourself with these factors, you can make informed decisions when selling your vehicle. In this article, we will explore the key aspects that determine the value of cars.

Make and Model:

The make and model of a car play a significant role in determining its value. Popular brands and models tend to hold their value better due to their reputation for reliability, performance, and desirability. On the other hand, less well-known or outdated models might experience a decline in value over time.

Age and Mileage:

The age and mileage of a car are crucial factors in assessing its value. Typically, the older the car is, the lower its value is. Similarly, higher mileage can indicate increased wear and tear, potentially impacting the overall value. However, well-maintained cars with low mileage may retain more value, as they are perceived to have more life left in them.

Condition:

The condition of a car is a vital determinant of its value. Vehicles in excellent condition, both aesthetically and mechanically, generally fetch higher prices. Factors such as exterior and interior condition, maintenance history, and the presence of any significant damages or repairs can impact the value of the car.

Market Demand:

The demand for a specific make or model in the market significantly influences its value. Cars that are in high demand due to their performance, fuel efficiency, or popularity, tend to have better value. Conversely, vehicles that are less sought after might experience a decrease in value.

Additional Features and Upgrades:

Extra features and upgrades, such as advanced safety systems, infotainment technology, leather seats, or custom modifications, can add value to a car. These features enhance the overall desirability and functionality of the vehicle, potentially increasing its market value.

Understanding how the value of cars is determined is essential when selling your vehicle. By considering the above-listed factors, you can set a fair asking price and maximise your return when selling your car. At The Car Buyers, we offer cash for cars Melbourne and cash for cars Canberra services, as well as free car valuations. Our team of experts assesses these value determinants to provide fair and accurate cash offers for your old car. Avoid The Pitfalls and Sell Your Car in Melbourne With Ease

Selling your car for cash online offers several positive aspects that can make the process convenient and beneficial for sellers. However, when it comes to selling your car online, there are some common pitfalls you should be aware of to ensure a smooth and successful transaction. Avoiding these pitfalls can help you get top cash for cars in Melbourne. Here are some key pitfalls to avoid when selling your car online:

Lack of Preparation:

One common pitfall is failing to adequately prepare your car for sale. Ensure that your car is clean, both inside and out. Take clear and appealing photos that showcase your car’s best features. Write a detailed and accurate description that highlights the car’s condition, history, and any recent maintenance or upgrades. By presenting your car in the best possible light, you increase your chances of attracting potential buyers.

Unrealistic Pricing:

Setting an unrealistic price for your car can significantly hinder its sale. Overpricing your car may discourage potential buyers, while underpricing may leave you with less than you deserve. Strive for a fair and competitive price that reflects the car’s value. You can get free car valuation from a reputable car buyer who will provide an estimate for your car depending on the market value and your car’s condition, mileage, and other relevant factors.

Lack of Communication:

Prompt and effective communication is vital when selling your car online. Respond to inquiries and messages from potential buyers in a timely manner. Provide accurate information, be transparent about your car’s history and condition, and address any concerns or questions. Building trust and maintaining good communication can lead to a smoother transaction and a higher likelihood of a successful sale.

Insufficient Safety Measures:

Selling your car online involves interacting with strangers, so it’s crucial to prioritize your safety. Beware of potential scams, and be cautious when sharing personal information or meeting with buyers. Whenever possible, meet in a public and well-lit location. Consider bringing a friend or family member along, and never release your car or the ownership documents until you have received full payment.

Five Reasons to Sell Your Old Car For Cash

If you have an old car that’s taking up space in your garage or driveway, it’s time to consider selling it for cash. Selling your old car for cash can be a smart financial decision that offers several benefits. In this article, we will discuss five reasons why you should sell your old car for cash.

Get Cash for Your Car:

The most obvious benefit of selling your old car for cash is that you can get cash in hand. This can help you pay off debts, save for a down payment on a new car, or put the money towards other expenses. There are many companies out there that offer free car valuation which helps you determine how much your car is worth.

Free Up Space:

Another reason to sell your old car for cash is to free up space in your garage or driveway. Old cars can take up valuable space and become an eyesore. By selling your old car, you can free up space and make room for something new.

Avoid Maintenance and Repair Costs:

Old cars can be expensive to maintain and repair, and these costs can add up quickly. According to a study, the average cost of car repairs in the United States is $426. If your old car is constantly breaking down and requiring repairs, it may be time to sell it for cash and avoid these costs.

Environmental Benefits:

Old cars can also have negative environmental impacts. Older cars tend to have lower fuel efficiency, which means they emit more pollutants and greenhouse gases into the environment. By selling your old car for cash, you can reduce your carbon footprint and help the environment.

Top Three Maintenance Tips To Get More Cash For Your Used Car

Selling a car for cash can be an attractive option for those looking to quickly get rid of a vehicle they no longer need or want. Whether you’re looking to upgrade to a newer car or simply need some extra cash, selling your car for cash can be a convenient way to make some money. Maintaining your car is important not just for your personal safety, but also to ensure that you get the best resale value when it’s time to sell. Whether you’re planning on selling your car in the near future or a few years down the line, here are some tips to help you keep it in top condition.

Follow Servicing Schedule:

One of the most important things you can do to maintain your car for resale is to stick to the recommended servicing schedule. Regular servicing helps to keep your car running smoothly, and it also helps to identify and fix any potential issues before they become more serious and expensive to repair. Keeping all of your servicing records up to date is also a good way to demonstrate to potential buyers that your car has been well-maintained.

Keep It Clean and Away from Natural Elements:

Another important factor in maintaining your car for resale is to keep it clean and protected from the elements. Regular washing and waxing will help to protect the paintwork from scratches and fading, while storing your car in a garage or under a carport will help to protect it from natural elements like sun, rain, and wind.

Have A Specialist Mechanic To Service Your Vehicle:

While regular servicing is important, it’s also important to choose the right mechanic to service your car. A specialist mechanic who is familiar with your car’s make and model will have the expertise to identify and fix any potential issues, and they’ll also be able to provide you with valuable advice on how to maintain your car for resale.

5 Things You Must Do Before Selling Your Cars For Cash

If you have a junk car taking up space in your garage or driveway, it’s time to consider choosing cash for cars Melbourne service. Junk car removal companies offer a convenient and hassle-free way to get rid of your old vehicle and get cash in return. However, before scheduling an old car removal service, there are a few things you must do. In this article, we will discuss five things you must do before selling your car for cash.

Look For Reputable Car Buyers Melbourne:

The first step in selling your junk car is to find reputable cash for cars provider. You want to work with a company that offers fair pricing, reliable service, and will handle all the necessary paperwork. These companies can make the car selling process easy and stress-free.

Get Free Car Valuation:

Before scheduling the car removal, you should get a free car valuation to determine the value of your vehicle. Many car removal companies offer free car valuations to help you determine how much your car is worth. This information can help you negotiate a fair price for your car and avoid being lowballed.

Gather Your Car’s Documents:

When selling a junk car, you will need to provide the buyer with certain documents, such as the car’s title, registration, and proof of insurance. Gather these documents before scheduling a junk car removal service to ensure a smooth and easy transaction.

Remove Your Personal Belongings:

Before the junk car removal service arrives, be sure to remove any personal belongings from the car. Check the trunk, glove compartment, and any other storage areas to make sure you haven’t left anything behind. This will help prevent any misunderstandings or issues during the removal process.

Cancel Your Insurance and Registration:

Once the junk car removal service takes your car, be sure to cancel your insurance and registration. This will prevent any future fees or liabilities associated with the car. In some cases, the junk car removal service may handle the paperwork for you, so be sure to ask about this before scheduling the service.

Is It Worth Getting Your Car Inspected Before Trading It In?

If you’re thinking about trading in your car, you may be wondering whether it’s worth getting it inspected beforehand. In short, the answer is yes – getting your car inspected before trading it in can help you get a fair price and avoid any surprises down the line. Here’s what you need to know.

Where to Get Your Car Inspected Before A Trade-In?

There are several options for getting your car inspected before a trade-in. You can take it to a trusted mechanic or dealership for a thorough inspection, or you can use an independent inspection service that specialises in pre-purchase inspections. Either way, it’s important to choose a reputable service that has experience with your type of car and can provide a comprehensive report.

Why Get Your Car Inspected?

There are several reasons why it’s important to get your car inspected before trading it in. For one, an inspection can help you identify any issues with your car that may affect its value or make it less desirable to potential buyers. Additionally, an inspection can help you negotiate a fair price for your car and avoid any disputes with the dealer or buyer.

Is it Important to Repair Your Car After the Inspection?

If the inspection reveals any issues with your car, you may be wondering whether it’s worth repairing them before trading in your car. In general, it’s a good idea to address any major issues that may affect your car’s value or safety before trading it in. However, minor cosmetic issues or regular wear and tear may not be worth repairing, as they are unlikely to significantly affect the trade-in value.

Is It The Right Time To Sell Your Car For Cash? Find Out Now!

There comes a time in every car’s life when it is no longer worth repairing, and it is time to consider selling it. But how do you know when it’s the right time to sell your car for cash? There are several signs that indicate it’s time to sell, including frequent repairs, a decline in performance, lifestyle changes, and the car being beyond its lifespan. In this article, we will discuss these signs in detail and help you determine when it’s the right time to opt for cash for cars Melbourne.

Frequent Repairs and Maintenance Costs:

One of the biggest signs that it’s time to sell your car is when it requires frequent repairs and maintenance. If you are spending more money on repairs than the value of your car, it’s time to consider selling it. According to a survey conducted by AAA, the average cost of car maintenance is $1,186 per year. This amount increases as the car gets older, and after ten years, the cost can go up to $1,900 per year. If you find yourself spending a significant amount of money on repairs and maintenance, it’s time to consider selling your car before it becomes a financial burden.

Decline in Performance:

Another sign that it’s time to sell your car is a decline in performance. If your car is struggling to start, has a hard time accelerating, or is making unusual noises, it may be time to sell it. According to a survey conducted by Consumer Reports, the average lifespan of a car is around 150,000 miles. However, this lifespan can vary depending on the make and model of the car. As the car gets older, its performance and reliability decline, making it less safe to drive. If your car is no longer reliable or safe, it’s time to sell it.

Lifestyle Changes:

Another factor to consider when deciding to sell your car is the change in your lifestyle. If you’ve recently moved to a city with public transportation, work from home, or no longer need a car for your daily commute, it may be time to sell your car. Before you choose to sell your car, it is better to get car valuations done to hunt the best deal.

Beyond the Lifespan of the Car:

Lastly, it may be time to sell your car if it is beyond its lifespan. The average age of a car on the road today is 12.1 years. However, this age can vary depending on the make and model of the car. Once the car reaches a certain age, it may start to experience more mechanical problems, and it may be difficult to find replacement parts. If your car is beyond its lifespan, it’s time to consider selling it before it becomes a safety hazard.

Re-Launch of Pulsar Cars by Nissan Australia in 2013 February

Coming February 2013, Nissan Australia is planning to re-launch their Pulsar cars, which are going to be priced at $19,990 each. The cars were sold at the same price about six years ago as well.

Nissan Australia has also been giving away lots of prizes to the friends of all its employees, which includes cash and vouchers. It is one of the ways by which the company can increase its consumer base and rise to the top of the sales charts. After a six-year gap, the Nissan Pulsar is back, ever since it got replaced by the Tiida in the year 2006.

With many car owners getting cash for cars in order to buy the new models in the market, Nissan is bound to make a lot of sales in the country next year. Selling the used vehicles in order to get cash for cars is what many consumers are considering.

Public not interested in Tiida

Even though Nissan Australia did its best to market and advertise Tiida in order to make up for its drab design, the public wasn’t really interested in neither the advertising, nor the car. Tiida was the sole contender of Nissan in the most popular vehicle category of the Australian markets, and the sales plummeted. The new Pulsar, however, will go on sale in the month of February next year, at the same price it was six years ago ($19,990).

The car was showcased by the company, much ahead of the Sydney Motor Show, which will open on the 19th of October. Six years ago, when the company decided to drop the Pulsar name from the Australian market, Nissan dealers struck out a protest against the Tiida model. Its return into the Australian markets next year is going to make most of the consumers happy as the Pulsar cars were a popular choice back then.

Almost 7 out of 10 shoppers still recognise the Pulsar badges

Even though the Pulsar cars haven’t been on sale for the last six years, Nissan Australia says that at least 7 out of 10 car shoppers still recognise the Pulsar badges. According to the company sources, the Pulsar still means a lot to the people in Australia and the company is sure that they have made the right decision in re-launching the cars into the market.

Pulsar has always been associated with well-shaped and characteristic cars, which have shaped the small car landscape of Australia for so long. Getting cash for cars is the ideal option that most pre-owned vehicles owners are choosing in order to buy the new Pulsar cars that will be launched soon.

Mazda Australia Tops Importer List with 10,000 Sales

Mazda Australia has become the first full-line importer in the country’s automotive industry with excellent performance ratings and highly successful promotions. , It sold over ten thousand vehicles in just a month. Getting cash for cars is the ideal option for people interested in buying new vehicles, and are looking to sell their pre-owned cars. The official VFACTS data was released recently by the Australian Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries.

According to the VFACTS data, Mazda Australia has sold over 10,093 vehicles all over the country in just the month of September, which is more than the number of vehicles sold between April and September. About 9,345 vehicles were sold by the car manufacturing company in the month of April, which was beaten by 748 units in the month of September.

September saw Mazda Australia rise in the overall sales charts

Apart from selling over ten thousand units, Mazda Australia also has another feat to be proud of. In September, the company saw its name rise to the second position on the overall sales charts for the 2nd time in history. The very first time it’s was one amongst the top manufacturers in Australia was in April 2012, when it was ranked between Toyota and Holden. Toyota sold about 17,300 units and Holden sold about 8955 units in the month of April 2012.

‘M-Day’ sale helped push the sales of Mazda3

According to the managing director of Mazda Australia, the car brand’s ‘M-Day’ sale was one of the main reasons for the successful sales of the cars, especially the Mazda3. The sale day helped to push the sales of this model to their highest, which are about 4276 units. Also, the CX-5 compact SUV showed second best results with about 1809 units sold on the ‘M-Day’ sale.

The company seems to be really pleased with selling over 10,000 cars in the month of September, and also felt that it was a fantastic result to achieve in such a short span of time. In order to buy the new units sold, customers of pre-owned cars chose the option of cash for cars to make invest in the new vehicles.

According to the managing director of the company, the M-Day sales were eagerly embraced by all the customers all over the country. The company was even more pleased with the fact that the range of cars offered by them still continues to appeal to the versatile audience.

Hung, Drawn and Quartered

Our ancestors in England could be quite unpleasant when it came to people breaking rules, although history is silent about speeding fines for mule carts.

These days we criticise the government almost with impunity. When it comes to traffic tickets we get slaps on wrists courtesy of Australia Post, although there have been a few exceptions.

Take one Marcus Richard Enfield for example. In his heyday, he was a Judge in the Australian Federal Court, the President of the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission, the UNICEF Ambassador for Children, and a few more roles besides. However, that was before he got into a spot of bother …

Enfield got a speeding fine in 2006. He could have paid $77 and moved on. Judges like to stand their ground and Marcus was no exception. He gave evidence under oath that a lady friend was driving at the time and got off. However, that was before he got into another spot of bother …

The media figured out that the lady friend had died in an American motor accident three years earlier. Undeterred, Enfield claimed he was talking about a similarly-named lady friend, who had died since the speeding incident. However, that was before he got into another spot of bother …

The coppers arrived unexpectedly and confiscated the judge’s computer. Later, they charged him with perjury, perverting the course of justice, and making and using false statutory declarations. After contesting the rest, Marcus Richard Enfield pleaded guilty to perjury.

The rest is history. Australians have a way of trampling their erstwhile heroes down. Enfield was stripped of all his titles and sent to jail for three years of which he served two. And his comment after he was released in 2011. “I don’t think I’m the slightest bit dishonest. I just made a mistake.” How the mighty have fallen. I wonder how many people he sent down himself, after they made a similar excuse.

Some Old Mobiles Keep on Rolling

When the Subritzky family decided to relocate from Poland to Australia more than a century ago, they brought a brand new 1903 Oldsmobile curved-dash open tourer with them.

The enterprising car buyers loaded it as deck cargo on the Greyhound ocean liner, so they could use it to putter around when the ship stopped to take on passengers and coal.

They made cars to last in those days. After the Oldsmobile smashed into a tram in 1904 they just replaced a few bits of wood so their faithful steed kept soldiering on, as it has to this day.

The current owner has a spare motor on the basis that ‘if you have a spare you won’t need it’ which makes sense. Back in 1903 car buyers invested in quality they knew would last. It’s a pity we can’t say the same today. Every week another batch of new cars gets recalled.

Increasing numbers of Australians are flocking to The Car Buyers used car showroom because they know they can’t afford to take a chance.

Cash for Cars that Burn Tyres

Either I am getting past it or the latest Mustang tweak is for the crazies. It disconnects the rear brakes so the wheels leave a signature of rubber on the road. That’s fine for junior line-lockers, smokies, skids and speedoolies who burn Dad’s money at a drag strip. Somehow I doubt they will continue when they learn what tyres cost. I wholeheartedly support our coppers when they arrest hoons for dangerous driving, excessive acceleration, burnouts, and so forth on public roads. They should charge extra cash for cars whose drivers misbehave. As far as I am concerned that’s the end of it. No wonder we have the carnage on the roads we do. Ford Australia’s brand communications manager Neil McDonald chose to play cute when Motoring.Com interrogated him. “I have no opinion over whether the new system would encourage hoon driving behaviour,” he commented. Victoria police are so irritated that one commented, “Were vehicles with this feature to be made available in Victoria then drivers who perform burnouts are likely to lose their vehicle for 30 days in the first instance for using it. Repeat offenders may find they lose their vehicle permanently and face significant fines or a criminal record”. Think again, Ford Mustang. You are not far from being an accessory to a crime. Your fine print states that “Racing your vehicle will void your warranty”. Are you looking for an excuse or do you have something against road safety? There is more to the automotive business than taking cash for cars. Take care, Kane

Red Card for Hoons

The Supreme Court’s decision to allow South Australia cops to continue crushing cars owned by hoons, is a red card to motoring criminals in two ways. Firstly, it has upset them sufficiently to waste the taxpayer’s time with stupid arguments. More importantly, it has told the imbeciles that speeding, burnouts, doughnuts, and street racing are not wanted in Australia, and they should desist or go somewhere else. I hope some car dealers are not shameless enough to sell a car to them to replace the one the coppers crushed. Apparently “hoon” originally referred to “one who lived off immoral earnings (i.e. the proceeds of prostitution, a pimp or procurer of prostitutes)” and I find the comparison noteworthy. Are you listening, boys and girls who do it? Later, they started using it to describe people unable to control their animal instincts when steering cars and boats. I for one will never even think to sell a car to anyone I suspect of hooning tendencies. I am issuing a challenge to all other car dealers in Australia to take a similar pledge. We too have social responsibility. Cars can be as dangerous as guns. Just do not tell me this is unnecessary. The Supreme Court’s time was wasted by an idiotic hoon who challenged the right of South Australia to crush his car after a third drink-driving conviction. No doubt, his lawyer used words like “cruel”, “heartless” and “uncaring” when arguing his appeal. I hope they make him watch the public crushing. I am however more than happy to sell a car to anybody else interested in acquiring a reliable used vehicle that is legal and roadworthy. As an added bonus, my prices are among the lowest in the country, and I stand by what I sell. Just call 1300 843 227 and ask for me. Take care, Kane

Australia Motor Trade in Jeopardy as ANCAP Faces Closure

The fact that Toyota is at it again with 297,600 safety recalls, makes the role of regulators like the Australasian New Car Assessment Program even more vital. I find it horrifying that in this modern day and age we still have leading world brands selling cars with faulty airbags, steering systems, and seat mounting points. ANCAP is patently off the hook with these. The faults developed after frequent use and were unlikely to show up in crash tests. With Australia heading for 100% imports we clearly need centralised quality control, especially in view of the number of start-ups entering the trade in smaller cars. According to Industry Minister Ian Macfarlane his decision to stop crash testing by 2017 ”is not a specific budget savings measure”, this despite the fact that he is looking for overall $2 billion savings from a $9.7 billion budget. He believes ANCAP becomes superfluous “when we don’t make cars in Australia” anymore, and to him it is as simple as that. The Car Buyers arranges roadworthy inspections on the cars it accepts on trade in, or pays spot cash for. It is just the way we are. We prefer to play it safe, and not take another person’s word for it. Take care, Kane

Rudd Raids Cookie Jar

Our esteemed prime minister has had a busy time papering over cracks recently, especially since he semi-trashed the car industry by enforcing fringe benefits tax. His party is already mandating 100% local spend for the commonwealth car fleet worth 18,000 vehicles a year. Now he has taken $200 million from the mysterious contingency reserve to apply a little sticking plaster. Arguably with an eye on the upcoming election, Rudd has gone squeaky clean with comments like “the car industry is critical important”. I should think so, given that it supports 250,000 indirect and direct jobs. In classic double-speak, Treasury describes the contingency reserve as “a fund to cover ‘anticipated events that cannot be assigned to individual programs’ in the budget estimates”. The mind absolutely boggles. I wonder what else in going on in Canberra. Opposition Joe Hockey deserves a round of applause for saying “On the one hand, Mr Rudd takes a baseball bat to the car industry by hitting it with an unprecedented $1.8 billion tax, and on the other he gives them back $200m to try and save them. The fact is, you can’t put a band-aid over a bullet wound.” There is an election coming up, and the folks at parliament house are vying for our attention already. We are busy too. Our order books are filled with thousands of Australians queuing up to buy the used cars we procure for more, and sell for less than our competition does. Take care, Kane

Less Cash for Cars Including Littlies

There has been a general rearranging of deck chairs in Australian new car markets, as they react to the imminent closing of Ford, Holden and Toyota Australia factories. According to the media this was because their cars were too expensive. Pundits speculated the surplus cash for cars from new car showrooms would shift to imported littlies, but that has not proved to be the case. Nissan has pulled the plug on the Almera, and Smart Car sales are radically down. This follows the axing of the VW Up! micro car in April. The only small car that is making any progress appears to be the baby Fiat 500. Reasons behind the loss in small car brand sales could include the cost of importation being relatively higher, and buyers demanding gadgets that do not come cheap. The Car Buyers has detected a steady uptick in demand across the full range of our used cars. Our buyers tell us they are no longer able to meet steeply rising new car prices. If anything, demand for small cars from The Car Buyers is increasing. That could be because we pay cash for cars, and sell cars for cash prices better than the rest. Take care, Kane

ONLINE CAR VALUATION GUIDE

Online Car Valuation Guide The Car Buyers website provides used car valuations Australia wide in two handy formats. A Happy Widow’s Tale We were so happy to help Mrs Granger from Sydney like this the other day. She was recently widowed after forty-one years of marriage, couldn’t drive herself and didn’t know what to do with her husband’s car standing in the garage. The best offer she’d had was a towing charge to take it away. Then she spotted our advert that we sell cars online. She appealed to us for help. We couldn’t believe it! Mrs Granger had inherited a spotless light green metallic 1984 380SEL Mercedes Benz in near showroom condition with all the trimmings. After we posted it, she had offers close to the $9,000 asking price we recommended. We decided it was worth a little more when we saw the condition. In fact one of our directors paid slightly over value at $9,500 cash. We Could Do the Same for You Would you like to sell your car for cash? You may not have Mrs Granger’s Mercedes Benz, but you’ll receive the same personalised attention when you request an online car valuation. Choose between these two great options. Get real value for your money either way. ü Request a Valuation Certificate, answer a few simple questions, pay the ridiculously low price of $9.95 and get an independent valuation in a few minutes. Do it now, and while this special offer lasts we’ll let you post a corresponding advert on our website absolutely free. ü Visit our Trade-In Valuation page, answer a few similar questions and we’ll come back with a provisional offer to buy your car from you in seconds. There are a few conditions like you have to be the owner and live in or nearby Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Darwin, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Townsville, Mackay, Carins, Wagga Wagga, Albury, Wodonga, Echuca, Mildura, Horsham, Bendigo, Ballarat, or Geelong. The rest is child’s play. The Perfect Way to Sell Your Car for Cash In an ideal world the answer would be “you don’t even need to sell your car online”. You just need to stick a sign in the window that says “Buy my Car for Cash”. Some honest fellow will turn up and offer you a deal you can’t refuse. But we both know this is fantasy, and that you’re more likely to be hassled into accepting cash 4 cars at way below face value. Selling cars for cash online can be a better way to do it, provided that you get an accurate online car valuation from somebody reliable like The Car Buyers. An added advantage is that we provide the used car valuations Australia trusts because we’re independent. You can buy credibility like this for just $9.95 in a matter of minutes when you click here in confidence. Your only problem will be persuading someone honest to part with cash at true market value. Your best and safest way is to ask us for an instant online car valuation / preliminary offer at genuine market value. We have been car dealers for years. We know how the market works and we buy cars for cash at exceptional values. Our front-end processes are quickest night and day. There is no faster way to sell cars online. Let’s assume we agree a price and you live in the Melbourne, Adelaide or Sydney metropolitan area. Our assessor will call, and arrange to view your vehicle where and when it suits you. There may be a slight price adjustment but you’re under no obligation until you agree to sell your car for cash to us at the agreed price. After you receive our written payment guarantee and hand over the registration papers, we’ll transfer cash instantly to your bank account. You’ll get best prices fastest and you won’t even pay for the online car valuation. Now you know the difference, shouldn’t you sell your car to The Car Buyers too?

What do 261 and XLI Have in Common?

No, I am not talking 261 horsepower. Are you feeling threatened your ignorance is about to be exposed? Kane will put you out of pain instantly, and advise that the latest VW XLI concept car achieves 261 miles per gallon, with a little help from a diesel electric generator and some sturdy batteries. All good, as long as you are in no hurry. No worries if you are in a rush though. Just prod the throttle, and a 0.6 litre 2-cylinder diesel will make some sort of difference. Carbon fibre, aluminium and magnesium come at a cost, although VW has given no indication of the price yet. It must have been expensive to build. The engineers had to omit the rear view mirrors and install real time video cameras instead. You win some, you lose some, I guess. The concept car is also a little noisy, owing to the zero sound-deadening qualities of carbon-fibre reinforced polymer. To an extent, the lowest-ever drag coefficient recorded for a “production” car offsets this. Whether VW will manufacture more than the required 50 stealth cars is another matter. The interior softens the teutonic efficiency just a tad, although romance is still not on the cards. The puritans have gone as far as to offset the two carbon fibre seats slightly, to eliminate the possibility of shoulders touching. Notwithstanding this, the pseudo leather steering wheel, analogue dials, climate control and radio scanner do manage to create the impression that this is indeed a motor car. Would I buy one if I had the money? Probably not: I am too impatient to drive slowly. Besides, what am I going to tell the police, when they stop me and ask “Where are your mirrors, mate? What you have there is against the law, and I am going to have to give you a warning … “ Take care, Kane

A Holden Made in China?

On Tuesday last I asked what happens when Holden goes shortly after Ford. It seems Mike Devereaux and GM had been chatting for a while, and everything is in place already to keep making cash for cars for Holden. Less than twenty-four hours after the bombshell dropped, Holden sales director Peter Kelley had already delivered a letter to Australian fleet customers promising them, “a wide portfolio of imported products post-2017”. He went on to add that, “Holden will continue with its commitment to provide the very best products to meet the needs of the Australian fleet customer, through leveraging the resources of General Motors global product portfolio”. It seems the Commodore brand is just too potent and too money-spinning to allow to let drop. Motoring.Com.Au is convinced the replacement model will come from China, and be a front-wheel-drive departure from the familiar three-box shape. Initial thinking revolves around a four-cylinder model. No doubt, Peter Kelley will continue to press for the six pots that are Australia’s preference on long straight highways, and have yielded lucrative cash for cars to date. However, there will be no wagons and no utes. Just podgy andromorphites from now on. Hot news just out includes the axing of Holden’s Lang Lang proving ground, Fishermens Bend engineering centre and Port Melbourne engine factory. The ripple effect continues. For now, the Port Melbourne design studio survives unscathed. Presumably, it is working on Australianising the Chinese blob? In case you just found The Car Buyers and are curious about the connection with lightly-used vehicles, I’ll close by mentioning that I pay brilliant cash for vehicles their owners no longer want, and then sell them on for cash to a queue of hungry buyers. My prices are the best because I don’t spend your money on luxuries. That’s me in a nut shell. Take care, Kane

Handy Car Selling Tips

So you have made up your mind to sell your car? Choosing a buyer, quoting a price, ensuring everything is done right. All of this could get very stressful. So you can do with some tips to help you ease this strain. You must first realise that, the buyer will be much more cautious than you are, even on the smallest details of your car. So you could avoid cutting a sorry face by doing your homework and ensuring every little problem is fixed. It is advisable to get a servicing and a car wash done by an expert mechanic so that nothing is missed out. Collect all the car related documents and update your knowledge on the history and specifications of your car. Your buyer might be keen on knowing this even before taking a look. After getting your car ready, you need to effectively advertise your car. Quote your reason on why you would like to move on from this car or you could share on how your experience has been with it. This should be in addition to the technical details you provide. This will make the buyer appreciate your passion in owning and maintaining the car and selling it to the right person. This also helps the buyer to build confidence in you. You must also take care to quote a reasonable price, and justify the same by providing the distance travelled details and the car usage. Above all when showing the car to your buyer, ensure that it is in a presentable condition so that it gets enough reasons to be picked easily. Getting all of the above in place will surely help in selling your car easily, without any hassles or regrets.

Once Proud Brands in Disarray

Oh dear, oh dear. It only seems like yesterday that Jaguar and Land Rover were trumpeting ‘buy my car in utmost confidence of quality’ or words like that. And now, Jaguar Land Rover are having to recall a whopping 5,245 vehicles that could catch alight or suffer engine failure. I would have thought Land Rover would have figured out by now how to build a fuel delivery system that does not leak. The official recall notice for the Freelander 2 and Ranger Rover Evoque 2.2-litre diesel models confirms a risk of “diesel fuel leaking from the engine-mounted injector spill rail spigot to spill return pipe connector joint”. They go on to mention that “the diesel leak could run onto the exhaust system and turbocharger where there is an increased risk of an under-bonnet fire.” This affects the owners of 1,485 Freelander 2s and 2,995 Evoques. I wonder how well their next marketing campaign will go down, when it repeats the plea to buy my car because it has hopefully been fixed. This pathetic effort affects 641 Jaguar XF luxury cars too. It comes on the heels of the recent recall of 124 Jaguar XF 2.0L turbo-petrol models. In the latter case, “the charge air cooler hose can detach from the charge air cooler resonator. This can cause the engine to cut out which may pose a hazard to the driver and other road users.” I should think it probably would! An increasing number of Australian motorists are turning their back on ridiculously priced new cars that could be recalled at any moment, and ordering reliable second-hand cars from The Car Buyers instead. When I say “buy my car” the public sit and listen. They know a bargain when they see one. Take care, Kane

After that you simply sign a few documents so we can issue a guarantee and take the car off your hands for good. How much easier is that than trying to sell your car Melbourne wide yourself? How Our Prices Compare Although used car valuations are supposed to be based on what the market thinks, every car buyers guide inevitably reduces this to allow for dealer profits. After all, they make their money from dealer advertisements and need them to survive. All’s fair in love and war. A car valuation free or not has two components. The price the seller gets and the dealer’s profit margin. Competition keeps the first component stable. The swing room in car valuations Australia, Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne is the margin the dealer needs to stay in business. Because The Car Buyers don’t pay rent, employ a whole lot of employees, list in the local car buyers guide, insure stock and so on, we can afford to include a lower margin in our used car valuations. This is the difference you benefit from. Put simply, we pay sellers more cash for cars than anybody else we know. Why Wait Longer There’s no need to advertise to sell your car Melbourne style. We buy cars and we sell cars right across Australia and we’ll find the right buyer when you’re ready. What’s more we won’t haggle unnecessarily and you’ll have cash in your hands as fast as your bank allows it. Now you’ve found us, it’s time to get down to business.

Selfish Selfie Takers

The Car Buyers would like Australian drivers to concentrate on what they are doing, as opposed to drinking while driving while heaven forbid texting too. If you do not listen to our advice, then your loved ones may trade in your car’s remains for a coffin, and that literally would be a crying shame. At least think about it. We have just learned that a Ford Australia survey reveals that one in three young drivers takes selfies while driving down our roads. This is ahead of the 28% in Germany and France. Evidence suggests that taking selfies can distract a driver for a full 14 seconds. I think this is a selfish way to trade in road safety to satisfy your ego. Before you are tempted to incur a $300 fine and help yourself to 3 demerit points, why not trade in your car for cash with me. You can spend the money on bus tickets, and take as many selfies as you like on public transport. Does that sound like a good deal? Take care, Kane

There’s Never Been a Better Time to Sell a Car

The used car market is booming, as more Australians find they are unable to afford the ricochet increases that new car manufacturers are imposing on them. This high demand versus fixed supply clicks the laws of supply-and-demand into play. As every economics student knows, this means car sellers hold centre stage I am determined to maintain momentum and keep sufficient stock to meet voracious demand. There has never been a better time to sell a car to me, because I am keen to beat all other offers and buy your wheels. We are The Car Buyers every Australian motorist loves, and conversely every other motor dealer gets hot under the collar about. Take up the challenge. Call 1300 843 227 to receive my cash offer. If you can beat my price and sell a car for more, well then that will be something for the record books. It seldom happens when Kane is on the beat which I am right now. Take care, Kane

No Longer Uber Alles

The Car Buyers greets the South Australia decision to blacklist startup transport Uber with mixed feelings. While it is true there are insurance implications, surely Australians have the right to choose freely? This is especially valid for car buyers living in remoter parts of town, where taxis are rare sights. Could this be something to do with licence income … what’s more important … state income or individual rights? Uber’s success in Australia is a symptom of a deeper problem. Citizens on average incomes can no longer afford the rocketing cost of new cars, which absorbs all the spare income they have. The Car Buyers presents the logical alternative. Pay less for an equivalent used car from us, and have cash left over for running costs. Australia uber alles for car buyers – now that’s a better idea! Take care, Kane

The Problems New Car Buyers Face

When you sell your car or trade it in to buy the latest motor town new car offering, you open yourself up to risks. These include how much value it will retain, and whether or not it will provide trouble-free motoring. There has been a rash of recalls lately, and there are no signs of this abating. While the repairs themselves are free, customers experience other costs including using taxis when their vehicles are in the workshop. However I believe that sudden design changes are by far the greatest risk you face, especially when you sell your car and buy one with a design that is as absurd as the Nissan IDx. I hope you didn’t, because the IDx is fingered to morph into something marginally better-looking. This is going to trash the current version’s value although in itself is a good idea. This is the rationale for buying a quality used car for much, much less, and with all these hurdles bypassed in a nutshell. Speak to me if you want to sell your car to upscale or to downscale, and I will offer you a bargain price. Take care, Kane
